Second edition DreamHack Rotterdam was a success

17 October 2022News

The second edition of DreamHack Rotterdam is over. Last weekend, Rotterdam Ahoy was completely dedicated to gaming and esports. Over 14,000 visitors from more than 20 different countries came to the ultimate gaming and esports festival.

One of the highlights of the festival were the esports tournaments. At the CS:GO ESL Challenger with a prize pool of $100,000, team Outsiders took off victoriously with $50,000 in their pocket and a guaranteed spot in the ESL Pro League Season 17 Conference. The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Melee leagues attracted half a million unique viewers online with participants from 15 different countries. The American Larry Lurr, walked away with the Ultimate Singles victory and Leffen, from Sweden, won the Melee Singles.

The Stream Studio where creators had a place to stream live for the event was also a success. Several creators from the gaming and esports world went "live" during the event. All the familiar names from the gaming industry passed by such as Milan Knol, LinkTijger, SerpentGamePlay, JoostSpeeltSpellen, CromoTag and Puxque.

In addition to esports tournaments and the Stream Studio, there was plenty for visitors to enjoy. Such as multiple Free2Play areas where gaming enthusiasts could play all kinds of games like the very latest game from Call Of Duty at the Intel booth, exhibitors such as OMEN, Intel, Monster Energy, PC Game Pass, the Doritos mainstage activities, the meet & greet with Paraduze, VThorben and TeamWall, and many others. And of course the AXE LAN party where around 200 game fans played 48 hours of competitions on their own PC.

Thus a well-attended edition of DreamHack Rotterdam of which the organization is extremely proud. "We are proud of this second edition of DreamHack Rotterdam. With enthusiastic responses both from visitors, partners and exhibitors we have put down a wonderful event. We are looking forward to building even further on this event for next year," said Brenda Munsterman, Project Manager DreamHack Rotterdam.

Furthermore, during RTM Games Week, the municipality of Rotterdam organized the Rotterdam Gaming Connect congress on October 14 which attracted 200 visitors.
